What do I offer?

Not everyone wants the same type of funeral and I offer a Civil Funeral ceremony which is available to everyone, whatever beliefs they held, if any.

Each ceremony is different as it is unique to the person who has died and unique to the life they have lived. It is a ceremony created especially for them.

A Civil Funeral Ceremony reflects the beliefs, wishes and values of the person who has died and fulfils the needs of the people closest to that person.

It is a highly personal ceremony created in line with the wishes of the family and friends who are making the funeral arrangements. It is their special gift to the person who has died. It is a time to celebrate their life and say a last goodbye to them with dignity, love and respect.

You will be able to check the ceremony content beforehand and I will offer you a full text of the ceremony to keep afterwards.

The ceremony will capture the very essence of the person and tell the story of the life that has been lived.

How is the ceremony created?

My first meeting with you will be in your own home or in a place chosen by yourself for us to meet. I understand that you are in unfamiliar territory and will talk through with you how we can jointly create a ceremony which is just as you want it to be.
You may want to play special music, sing a hymn or a song and include readings and poetry. You may or may not wish to include a prayer. The decision is entirely yours. At the heart of the ceremony will be the special story of the life of the person who has died.
It is my responsibility to advise and guide you, interpret your wishes and make practical suggestions about the content and structure of the ceremony. It may be that you wish to write the tribute yourself or you may wish for me to do it on your behalf. There may be other people you may wish to be involved. You can lead parts of the funeral ceremony yourself, or hand over all responsibility to me.
However much you want to do yourself or leave to me as the celebrant, you remain in control of the process.
I assure you of my commitment to create a ceremony which is created following full discussion as to how you want it to be.
